Provides health services in the Whatcom County jail following the requirements set out by the National Commission on Correctional Health Care Standards. The most frequent health conditions affecting residents in the jail are addiction, mental illness, systemic infections, diabetes, hypertension, cardiac and gastrointestinal disorders, and traumatic injury.

Services include certified behavioral health and chemical dependency treatment, outpatient treatment and medication management, jail transition services, behavioral health case management, individual therapy, and specialty groups.

The Whatcom County Triage Center (WCTC) in Bellingham can accommodate up to 16 individuals at once who are experiencing a mental health crisis. Services include crisis stabilization, safety planning, and referrals for ongoing care. Individuals may self-refer or be referred by a community partner such as a behavioral health provider, hospital social worker, or medical provider. The facility can also accept drop-offs from law enforcement and emergency medical technicians as a diversion alternative to jail or the emergency room.
